Back by popular demand- Friday Kcup reviews! Every Friday at Cross Country Cafe we host a flavor review.  Let’s face it the selection of K-cups we have to choose from is huge,  how do you pick the right one?  Who wants to buy an entire box and not like it?! Our goal is to describe how the coffee or tea tastes in simple layman’s terms so that you can determine if it suits your preferences. Let’s get to the review, up this week…Rio Blend.

Rio Blend is a medium roast coffee brought to us by the experts at Diedrich Coffee. Rio is a member of our line of value priced Kcups, meaning just that…delicious Kcups with the same quality you have come to know and love at a lower price.

Our friend Jason from Coffee Cup News reviewed this coffee some time ago, take a look at what he had to say:

I watched his video after I had done my tasting and I was so pleased when he mentioned the chocolate flavors. That is exactly what I tasted.  I am so happy when our opinions are coincide!  I did not taste the woodsy or grapefruit notes that he mentioned- perhaps my taste buds just are not as refined as his.

Rio is dark in the cup but, some what translucent.

Rio does border on being a heavier roast but, just enough that it creates a satisfying coffee without crossing over to the dark side! The mouth feel is smooth and creamy, especially with a dash of milk.

If you are like me and have been avoiding the new value priced Kcups in fear of a lower quality, you can stop now, this Kcup has my seal of approval! I noticed absolutely no difference in the brew, appearance or taste (just the price!).

Think about the last book you read or movie you watched.  I am willing to bet that a friend or family member tipped you off. How many times have you been at a social event and been told about a great restaurant, with amazing food? The point is, word of mouth is a powerful tool in your decision-making process, how else would you narrow down the massive choices we have for entertainment or food in this land of plenty?

I love iced tea but I dont like to add sugar or artificial sweetner.  The Pomegranate flavor adds just the right amount of sweetness so that I dont have to add anything!  I get nothing but an all natural refreshing glass of healthy green tea!”
