Back by popular demand- Friday Kcup reviews! Every Friday at Cross Country Cafe we host a flavor review. Let's face it the selection of K-cups we have to choose from is huge, how do you pick the right one? Who wants to buy an entire box and not like it?! Our goal is to describe how the coffee or tea tastes in simple layman's terms so that you can determine if it suits your preferences.
Let's get to the review, up this week...Barista Prima Italian Roast.
Italian is a dark roast coffee brought to us by Barista Prima, a subsidiary of Green Mountain, famous for their high quality coffee with a European flair.
I have to admit, I was a bit nervous about trying this one. Italian is one of the darkest coffees there is. I find that sometimes in the dark roast world, roasters try to over do it and be ultra super dark and burnt just for a wow factor. I feared that would be the case with this Kcup.
I was wrong.
Yes, Barista Prima Italian roast is very, very dark but, it has very minimal "burnt" taste. It is smooth, satisfying and understated in a manner that in my humble opinion, creates a truly great cup of coffee. I unfortunately have not traveled to Europe but, have experience amazing brews at up scale Italian restaurants or hotels and this Kcup lives up to that caliber.
If you have considered crossing over to the darker coffee world, this would be a perfect first choice. I think that any dark roast lover will be happy with this Kcup and medium roast drinkers as well. Light roast and flavored fans, this is not the one for you.
Barista Prima Italian roast would be superb to pair with any dessert. It is bursting with pure coffee flavor that will enhance the flavor of your favorite decadent treat.
