Back by popular demand- Friday Kcup reviews! Every Friday at Cross Country Cafe we host a flavor review. Let's face it the selection of K-cups we have to choose from is huge, how do you pick the right one? Who wants to buy an entire box and not like it?! Our goal is to describe how the coffee or tea tastes in simple layman's terms so that you can determine if it suits your preferences.
Let's get to the review, up this week...REVV.
REVV is an extra bold, dark roast Kcup brought to us by Green Mountain Coffee.
I brewed my cup of REVV on the highest water setting of my Keurig because it is extra bold, I knew that it could stand up to a little extra water without tasting watered down. It was extremely dark in the cup with no translucency...this is one truly dark cup of coffee. The aroma was that of burnt toast as is fairly common with the ultra dark coffees.
The first sip was a bit of a shock, pure burnt wood rushed over my tongue with a slight bittersweetness. The body was fairly light but, the taste was nothing but dark, burnt coffee. But, this one is bares this characteristic in a uniquely strong way.
This is not my preference but, that does not mean this is not a great coffee. It has great depth and very unique characteristics. I was still able to enjoy the fact that it is a high quality 100% Arabica bean Kcup but, it simply is not for me. However, the point of this tasting is to describe the coffee to you not, give my personal opinion. I found a few reviews on REVV from consumers that I wanted to share:
"Bold, sexy, wonderful Revv starts my day. This coffee packs a kick that no other coffee can compare to. I enjoy this coffee so I recommended this bold blend to my friend and gave him a 16 pack tester. I recommend this over Starbucks Coffee."
"This is my favorite morning first cup of coffee - bar none. I do not want to be without this blend - ever. I make sure it is on my regular order delivery list. I love it! I bet you will love it too."
"Our family's #1 fav K-Cup flavor! No extra cups of coffee needed after one Revv cup. Strong, bold, and flavorful. It's for those days when a 'wake me up' kind of coffee is in order. But, it's not acidic or bitter like other dark roasts."
I am glad that the first review referenced Starbuks, REVV is very reminiscent of their unique burnt roasting approach. If you are a Starbucks fan, this is definitely the Kcup for you.
If you enjoy light, flavored or medium roast coffees- steer clear of REVV. Dark roast fans, this is the one for you!
Have you tried REVV? Did you find the flavor extremely unique as I did?
