Vanilla Biscotti is a flavored Keurig K-cup coffee brought to us by a name everyone knows...Folgers coffee.
We all grew up watching our parents drink Folgers coffee. Folgers has been in our kitchens for years and has maintained that popularity even today. Famous for a smooth "mountain grown" taste that is easy to drink, this coffee appeals to the masses. But, for some reason Folgers comes with a stigma of being cheap or less than stellar coffee and I think I know why.
My mother was the first to teach me how to make a cup of coffee. Step one, pour a spoonful of granules in a mug, fill the mug with tap water and heat in the microwave. Yes, my friends we drank instant coffee and guess what? It was Folgers. It was bitter, oddly colored and left my stomach burning. For me Folgers will always be synonymous with that experience despite the fact that traditional drip style Folgers coffee is actually quite good. I am willing to bet that others carry that same bias with them.
Times have changed, I obviously don't go anywhere near instant coffee (although my mother still has a cup from time to time despite my protest- old habits die hard I guess) and Folgers has joined the coffee revolution.
Folgers coffee is now available in Keurig K-cups! There are a variety of roasts and flavors ranging from their classic roast to delicious and inventive flavors such as this weeks Keurig K-cup review- Vanilla Biscotti.
Vanilla Biscotti is medium roast flavored coffee. I chose to brew my Folgers Vanilla Biscotti K-cup coffee on the highest water setting of my Keurig brewer. Not knowing what to expect, I was very satisfied with the results. There was minimal translucency leading me to believe this would be a nice satisfying cup of joe.
This is one of the smoothest cups of coffee I have ever had. There is an absolute lack of bitterness. The vanilla flavor is subtle, highlighted with hints of butter complimenting the delicious coffee taste. So many flavored coffees are over powered with fake flavor taste that the coffee is lost. That is not the case with this coffee at all. Vanilla Biscotti provides a nice hint of sweet flavor while still maintaining the body and taste of the coffee.
I would recommend this K-cup to light and medium roast drinkers. Flavored coffee drinkers will love this roast as well. If you are not a flavored fan you still may want to give Vanilla Biscotti a try, the vanilla is so subtle that you may still enjoy it. Dark roast coffee lovers, this is not the K-cup for you.
