Brew Over ICe Keurig K-cup coffee

The days are getting longer and warmer (the term warmer is relative in my neck of the woods), with the sun shining afternoon coffee is starting to sound less and less appealing. What is a girl to do for her caffeine fix?  Keurig K-cup iced coffees and teas of course!

If you are a regular follow you are already quite versed in this subject but, for our newbies, I thought I would give a little review on everything iced when it comes to Keurig brewing.

The first and most important thing to know is that you can brew over ice with any Keurig.  You do not need a special model or any sort of adapter.  Just follow these easy step and you will be well on your way to enjoying a refreshing treat:

1- Fill a 16oz or larger plastic cup with ice.

2- Place the cup under the brew basket of your Keurig, if it is too tall simply remove the drip tray.

3- Place your K-cup of choice in the brew basket an select the lowest water setting.

Thats it, easy peasy! I have a few tips to make your experience more enjoyable...

1- Do not use a glass, always choose a plastic cup to avoid accident or injury from cracked glass. I recommend a double walled acrylic tumbler.  My VERY favorite type to use is Tervis These babies last forever, the lids seal tight and they keep the beverage ice cold for hours!

2- You can brew any K-cup coffee or tea over ice.  There are many available that are specially marked to brew over ice, these do tend to create better results but, any old K-cup will do.

3) Always use the lowest water setting of your Keurig brewer.  The larger setting may cause overflow and will affect the taste of your final product.

4) If you are like me and prefer a nice strong taste to your iced coffee, try using coffee ice cubes!

5) Although you can use any K-cup to brew over ice, strong roasts and extra bolds tend to produce better results because they tend to not taste as watered down.

Brewing your K-cup coffee and teas over ice is just one more added convenience of owning a Keurig.  It opens up new horizons and allows you to get more bang for your buck by utilizing your unit in a new and exciting way!
