We understand how it feels to choose a K-Cup® pod that is either too light or too dark, too weak or too strong. Most of us are in search of something in the middle.

Don’t worry, my fellow coffee lovers; there are plenty of medium roast pods that are just right. We have tried them all and have years worth of sales data to tell you which taste the best.

In this article, you will learn what medium roast coffee means, what it tastes like, and how much caffeine it contains. Most importantly, we will reveal the ten best medium roast K-Cup® coffees.

What does medium roast coffee mean?

Coffee roasting levels measure on a wide spectrum from light to dark. There can be many different levels along that spectrum, but we tend to refer to only three: light, medium, and dark. Each roasting level changes the character of the beans.

Medium coffee has a thicker body than light roasts (some say light roasts taste “thin”). The oil found in darker choices is missing, as is the often associated burnt taste.

We use the word balanced a lot with medium roasts as the subtle nuances of the coffee remain rather than diminished by an intense roasting process.

What does medium roast coffee taste like?

The further a bean gets down the spectrum, the less of the original flavor is left. Instead, the roasting process lends new smoky and sometimes intense characteristics.

Medium roast coffees are unique because the original personality of the bean remain PLUS new flavors and aromas emerge from roasting. Remember that whole balanced thing?

I think this is why so many people find medium roast coffee satisfying. It is the best of both worlds.

Does medium roast coffee have more caffeine?

Contrary to popular belief, light roast coffees have the most caffeine! The longer a bean remains in the roasting process the less caffeine it has.
