Every Friday at Cross Country Cafe we host a flavor review. Let’s face it the selection of K-cups we have to choose from is huge, how do you pick the right one? Who wants to buy an entire box and not like it?! Our goal is to describe how the coffee or tea tastes in simple layman’s terms so that you can determine if it suits your preferences.
Let’s get to the review, up this week…Nantucket Blend.
Nantucket is the blend of all blends, a perfect mixture of beans from 4 different countries. Many coffee connoisseurs scoff at coffee blends, I however see the beauty in pulling the best aspects of several bean varieties. That shines through in this coffee with a complex depth and a smooth, satisfying finish.
I brewed my Nantucket Kcup on the middle water setting of my Keurig brewer and I was quite surprised at how translucent it was…I could definitely see the bottom of the cup.
This scared me because I was quite sure that I was about to drink a cup of coffee flavored water but, was pleasantly surprised with a much heavier mouthfeel than I expected. I am not quite sure how they pulled this contradiction off. It appears as a light roast, but definitely tastes like a medium roast and I would even be willing to recommend this Kcup to dark roast drinkers.
This is a every day Colombian’ ish tasting coffee with a little more zip than a standard Breakfast Blend, borders on Dark Magic characteristics with out quite getting there. It falls perfectly in the middle of those two ends of the spectrum.
