Family traditions often fall into the hands of mom. As a mother myself, I know how hard it is to come up with ideas that my family will remember for a lifetime. If you are anything like me, Pinterest is your BFF. I personal prefer super simple things: a special recipe, a board game, a holiday movie.

I made apple cider donuts for the first time a few years ago, and two things surprised me: how easy it was and how much my family loved them. They are now expected {demanded} every fall!

Here is the really cool part.

My apple cider donut recipe is made with Green Mountain® Apple Cider K-Cup® pods! Would you ever guess that you can bake with Keurig® capsules? Me either. I always keep a box in my cupboard. My consumption slows down in the summer, but when I see a single orange leaf, I am popping these babies in my machine like crazy.

  1. Combine all dry ingredients in a medium size bowl and mix with a whisk.
  2. Brew the Apple Cider on the lowest water setting of your brewer. This will produce about one cup of apple cider. Since you only need half a cup for this recipe, set the other half aside to dip your freshly made donut- mmmmm!
  3. Combine all wet ingredients in a large bowl, stir well.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix until just combined.
  5. Refrigerate the dough for about 1 hour.
  6. Meanwhile heat 2-3 inches of oil to 375 degrees in a deep fryer, large frying pan or electric skillet.
  7. Roll the dough out on a floured surface to slightly more than 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Cut into donut shapes.
  9. Place in oil and allow to cook for 1- 1 1/2 minutes on each side.
  10. Drain on a paper towel.
  11. Coat with granulate sugar, powdered sugar or glaze.
