Folgers Mocha Swirl Keurig Kcup pods are a recent addition to our coffee family. Folgers is a name you have come to know and trust, after all, they have been leaders in the coffee market since 1850. They are and have always been renegades in the industry being one of the first to encourage home coffee brewing, until then it was thought of as a luxury. This genius thinking revolutionized the coffee culture and our drowsy mornings.
Fast forward a few hundred years and little has changed. Folgers was among the first mega roasters to jump aboard the Keurig train. Yet again having major foresight, knowing that single-serve was the way of the future. Although Classic Folgers Roasts are great, they were lacking a bit of variety. Folgers stood by one amazing product, one consistent roast and it worked until now. Now the public demands fun and delicious twists on their morning cup of joe.
Folgers listened and man o man did they deliver.
Mocha Swirl is among their first flavored K-cup coffees and I certainly hope it is not the last. Mocha Swirl is a light to medium roast (it truly falls halfway in between) coffee that is certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union. This delicious Kcup is made from 100% Arabia beans and can be brewed in both Keurig 2.0 and classic Keurig machines.
I chose to brew my Mocha Swirl Kcup on the 10-ounce water setting of my Keurig 2.0 and I selected the "strong" button. I have found the results of that added feature to be stellar and much more in line with conventional brew methods.
The result was a beautifully colored cup of joe with just a slight translucency around the edges. The brown was almost startlingly rich in appearance where others appear a flat black, this jewel oozed with depth even at first glance.
The most notable feature of this Kcup coffee was the aroma. During the brewing process, the classic Folgers smell wafted through my kitchen but this one was a little different. The difference was chocolate, dark rich amazing smelling chocolate riding on a cloud of coffee. The only way to describe it is astounding.
The first sip was packed full of velvety chocolate flavor. It was bittersweet with a hint of citrus undertones, smoothed by almond, vanilla, and of course chocolate notes. If I had one wish it would be that the coffee flavor is a bit stronger. The added flavor is dominant with this Kcup- a good thing for those flavored coffee lovers out there. Personally, I like just a pinch more coffee taste.
The piece de la resistance was a dash of cream. This java was transformed to an abundantly silky dream.
I would absolutely recommend this Kcup to all flavored coffee fans. Light and medium roast drinkers, this is a great one for you as well. Dark roast fans, this is not the K-cup for you.
