Keurig K cup Review-Summer Sunrise Blend

Posted on Thu, May 07, 2015

Summer Sunrise Blend is a limited edition coffee roasted by the fine folks at Green Mountain.  Each season Green Mountain releases a Kcup that is apropos of the time of year, Summer Sunrise and Island Coconut are the summer choices and I for one think they are a great flavor fit!

Summer Sunrise is Fair Trade certified (as are all of the seasonal K cup coffee pods). This is a medium roast coffee made from 100% Arabica beans and it is Orthodox Union Kosher, gluten, and calorie-free!

I chose to brew my Summer Sunrise on the 10 ounces setting of my Keurig 2.0 (that would be the highest water setting for classic Keurig users). The result was a fairly dark coffee, with very minimal translucency.  I definitely could not see the bottom of my mug and just ever so slightly on the sides.

The aroma was a bit disappointing, as in non-existent. I love a great smelling coffee, it just adds to the whole experience but, maybe my sniffer just wasn't working great today.

The first sip offered a light woodsy taste and I have said this many times- Green Mountain hits the nail on the head every gosh darn time they name a coffee and this is no exception. This coffee tastes like a summer feel- upbeat and happy. There are hints of flower and citrus but that is very minimal and does not make its presence known until the back end. Summer Sunrise is a medium roast coffee but, to me, it is a bit on the lighter side.

I would recommend this K-cup coffee pod to all light and medium roast drinkers.  Dark and flavored fans, I just don't think this is the K cup for you.

Have you tried Summer Sunrise yet? Please, tell us what you think.
