Okay so I am now kind of obsessed with Kcup up cycling crafts. I mean, how could you not? They turn out super cute and create a second use for our spent Kcups. We have now made the Frankensteins, turkeys and here we are back at it with this ultra simple option...pilgrim hats.
Pilgrim Hat Materials:
- multiple kcups, washed and dried
- black acrylic paint OR black spray paint (both work fine)
- yellow acrylic paint
- sponge brush
- small paint brush
- black foam from the Pilgrim hat
- clear glue (I used Elmer's clear school glue)
- glue dots
- white ribbon
- scissors
Directions:
1.) Paint each of the used k-cups black and let dry several hours.
2.) Cut a small circle for the brim of the Pilgrim's hat out of the black foam. I found a small lid on the baking powder in my spice cupboard and used that as a template.
3.) Use the clear glue to connect the k-cup to the black foam circle, making the brim. Allow it to dry.
4.) Place a glue dot at the back of the Pilgrim hat at the base to hold the white ribbon. Gently wrap the ribbon once around the bottom of the k-cup (see photo) and use another glue dot to attach the end of the ribbon to the back of the k-cup.
5.) Use a small paint brush to paint a tiny square on the front of the ribbon making the Pilgrim hat buckle.
6.) Repeat with the desired amount of k-cups.
This pilgrim hat craft is kid friendly and would make a great project for class parties!
